Things are still unfortunately going slowly, moving has practically halted due to the cold weather and threats of snow, and working overtime due to the holiday rush that's upon us at work; I'm very sore and tired from it all. Hobby stuff is still on the backburner still due to not having any of my equipment and the weather in general (RIP resin casting, at least until it's warm out again). I still keep buying shit though: I recently got my hands on some comic serialisation magazines, doujin goods and comics, and the fabled Crystal Bearers keychain. I also found a second one for sale in slightly worse shape, of which I promptly snapped up to experiment with so I don't have to ruin the one I'm gifting to a friend. Still on the lookout for more of them, but I really do wonder if more will pop up just due to the scarcity of these things. Though, I'm still shocked that 2 have popped up for sale a couple weeks apart; it may just happen a third time. But I'm not holding my breath.
In other news, I finally pulled the trigger on getting my miniITX PC build parts ordered. Very excited but also very stressed about playing Expensive Electric Legos again, especially since I'm downgrading my case from an ATX full tower to a MicroATX mini tower. I think I'm still going to keep my old case for a NAS setup, the fucking thing can fit almost 2 dozen hard drives in it. I need to get rid of my Corsair case because I'm just not going to need it anymore. I had originally planned on moving my current build to it and getting rid of the Anidees case but that's now a dumb idea with the setup I'm now aiming for: a MicroATX desktop setup with FedoraKDE as my main rig for the usual stuff + light gaming since I don't really do gaming much anymore, an offline Acer AMD business laptop with Windows 10 LTSC and my XP-Pen Artist 24 Pro for art stuff, and a(n offline) NAS setup for editing storage.
The PC parts should be in by next Monday or Tuesday, but I probably won't have time to play around with stuff unless I get out of work early or it'll have to wait until my days off for the holidays. On top of that, I also still have to get around to fixing my sister's PC; which has been sitting in the kitchen untouched for a couple years because I've not had the time to deal with it. I at least know what's wrong with it now, so it's an easy fix. When I originally built it, I didn't think to double check whether some parts were compatible (genuinely thought they were but alas~), so I gotta swap out the CPU (main problem) and the GPU (you can pry my MSI GTX 1050 TI Low Profile graphics card from my cold, dead hands). Sounds easy but I fucking hate having to clean up and reapply thermal paste, the last time I tried I got paste inside the CPU socket and was unable to clean it out in any meaningful way.
I recently started watching The Apothecary Diaries and binged both seasons this past weekend and now I'm flailing like a fish out of water because what do you mean I have to wait until the holiday season next fucking year for season 3 and a film??? Suffice to say it, I likely will not mentally survive the next 11 months as this show is going to be living rent free in my head alongside Crystal Chronicles. I don't know much about the imperial China romance/political/drama genre (what an absolute fucking doozy of a genre combo to get hooked on lmfao) to pick out something else to watch in the meantime, the only other piece of media I'm aware of is the Road to Empress visual novel that Ironmouse played a few weeks ago and I still have not sat down to finish watching that.
So much to do and so little time, and too much time to wait for things to happen.
Eugh.
