[November 2nd, 2025] Moving Pains and Crashing

I was supposed to have been fully moved out by this coming weekend. There have been several things that have put me at least a week behind schedule, and I am not a happy camper right now. The three biggest things being scheduling conflicts, my dad dragging his feet on getting copies of the house keys made and being forced to work overtime again (mandatory 9 hour shifts + possible mandatory 8 hour Saturday shifts, all starting at 5,30am) until after New Years.

I wanted out before the temperatures hit below freezing and the threat of snow because I do not want to deal with another year of 350$+ heating bills for the next few months. I can't fucking afford it. It wouldn't be so bad if I could and if also this shithole of a house wasn't so poorly insulated. I recently found out my dad has his thermostat set at 69°F (nice) and it's warmer over there than it is here; compared to my thermostat being set to the low/mid 70s. This is the kind of bullshit I'm dealing with right now. The fact that my house is stilted on dirt and rocks probably doesn't help at all since that just allows rodents to chew their way in and tear up the insulation for nesting some more should they decide to invade again this year (I think they have already and I'm already fucking pissed about it). The floors on the main floor also aren't insulated at all, so that's also another contributing factor.

On top of all of that bullshit, I'm getting hit with invoices for hobby shit and by god is it fucking expensive because the tariff threat has caused JapanPost to stop shipping to the US a couple months ago (I don't fucking blame them if I'm going to be honest, but it still fucking sucks), so now everyone's either using private couriers (already expensive + dumb brokerage fees) or just not shipping at all. One good example is Vivi Ornitier's hat, I'm being asked to shell out over 10k yen (~100$) for tariff inclusive shipping through ECMS; almost the same price I'm paying for the hat itself. ECMS thankfully hands off to USPS in my area, however I would've gone with putting it on a boat for 2k yen less but surface now goes through UPS and I do not want UPS touching my shit for the forseeable future.

I still have 4 other open preorders and two of them I'm worried about because the manufacturer will not let me use anything other than UPS (which genuinely wasn't an issue before last month). So everything has just been panic all across the board for me right now.

In better news, I have more archival material arriving in the mail soon (bless u USPS, my beloved), so I'll have some disc media to rip immediately and more magazines to handle in the future. I also recently received another but bigger chalice 3D print to fuck around with when I have the time and energy to do so, and I'm very excited about that. I was forced to skip Halloween this year due to lack of funds to buy needed supplies from all the fuckery afoot, but having this chalice model means I have one more thing to cross off the list. I still need Vivi's hat, denim fabric, and brown steel toed boots though...

This week, however, I really need to put my nose to the grindstone and finish cleaning and packing. It's going to be so fucking difficult though because I'm so tired and sore from being overworked, I tried to get a lot done today but barely scratched the surface because Sundays are my days of laying about and languishing so I can face the coming work week with barely enough energy to get through it all, only to repeat the cycle all over again the next weekend.

This sucks, man.
