Some time last month, I found a seller on Mercari JP selling an in-store promo kit for Crystal Bearers. I bought it and paid roughly 500 USD for it. I had thought to myself at the time "Oh, cool. Nice. Another score for the preservation/archival effort." Little did my dumb ass know...
It arrived to my proxy in less than a week, I went and requested they pack it and prep for shipping. The invoice came in and said the box was 100cm long. I have absolutely zero sense of scale, so thought to myself at the time "This is fine!" Things were not fine.
Roughly a week later and almost 200 USD in shipping later, it arrived at my front door.
Note: I did not get photos of the shipping box it was in, not that it really matters. The box it was shipped in I felt like I had participated in the fucking Olympics cutting it down into smaller pieces to fit in my recylcing bin! Regardless, the box was massive and unwieldy. The protective box comes up to my hips and for reference: I'm 5 foot 7.
I managed to get this god forsaken unwieldy box up my stairs into my room to open it and oh boy, I wasn't fucking prepared.
Upon opening the box, I'm greeted by a very large piece of cardboard (containing the fabric poster) and also this incredibly massive pop up box featuring the game's Japanese cover art (yes, that red thing is a 12 inch ruler)
Underneath the large pop up box was the unreasonably large cardboard standee. Note that it's folded in half in the above images. This thing is likely taller than I am.
Last but not least was the very first thing I was greeted by when opening the box: the fabric poster, which was contained in a large cardboard protector. I had bought this promo kit thinking I'd be able to use the fabric poster as wall decor, but unfortunately, it's roughly the same size as my twin XL mattress. Alas, with how unreasonably large it is, I have nowhere to hang it up as I have angled ceilngs. I had half a mind to consider thumbtacking it by the hanging strings to my ceiling, but decided that being jumpscared every morning is not conducive to my health.
Currently, everything has gone back in the box. But when I have more money (because this has certainly done Things⢠to my wallet) I'm taking this up to the scanner shop I was made aware of and having all of this scanned for archival.
